Community

The Scenario
3-4 Players
In this game, each player controls a community of people at risk of HIV infection. Players engage with other communities each round, making their HIV risk interdependent with that of other players. The goal is to eradicate HIV infection across all communities before any single community is overwhelmed by infection. This is achieved through the successful management of HIV treatment and PreP access across all Players' communities. Communication is paramount to success.
Playtest #1
- Unsure about trade method; traded cards based on choice, not randomly -- made gameplay easier
- Confused about when a turn ends
- Liked that they had to talk and work together
- Thought PreP cards were for multiple infection cards
- Never explained what community cards were in rules

- Liked speed of gameplay

- Thought set up was quick and easy

Playtest #2
- Players were a little confused about what happens during each part of gameplay
- Need to make clear that players should have 7 cards at all times
- Seem to regularly forget what part of gameplay they are in
- Should PreP be able to cancel out a Risky Encounter?
- Once they become more comfortable with the order people began strategizing and communicating more
- The process of picking cards from other hands is affected by the way people order the cards in their hand (ie putting all reds on one side)
TESTIMONIALS
“I like that it's a community game rather than individual because it shows how HIV prevention emboldens everyone and is not just on a single person."
“Oh my god, we all have PreP! Protected!" (in-game quote)
"It might be more effective to brand cards differently and later reveal that it's about HIV prevention."
